| Overview |

Waste Collection, segregation, recycling and disposal services are provided to householders by South Dublin, Dublin City and Fingal and in the case of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown private operators. The new recycle based management system is based on the idea that if you produce waste, you should pay for its removal and disposal i.e. the 'polluter pays' principle. A specific household environmental charge has been introduced by each local authority across the region.
Householders should be aware that if you pay your charge on time you qualify for tax relief. In order to qualify, you must return your P.P.S. number, (formerly your RSI Number), on the form provided with the bill. The Revenue Commissioners will be informed of all qualifying payments for the next tax year.

The waivers applies to households whose sole income is a Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs allowance or pension and households whose total income is exempt from income tax. People on low income may also qualify.
