Household Waste Charges for 2006

From Monday 3rd April 2006, the price of a bin tag will increase.

The price of a bin tag for the standard 240 litre bin will be €8, while the tag for the smaller 140 litre bin will be €4. This is the first price increase since February 2004, and the price remains significantly below the cost to the Council of providing the service.

The service still represents very good value for money, and the charges in South Dublin County continue to be amongst the lowest in the country.

The change takes effect for all collections from Monday 3rd April 2006, and the new price tag must be used from that date. If householders have unused intact €6 or €3 tags remaining, these may be exchanged at the Council's Cash Offices in Tallaght and Clondalkin on payment of the appropriate amount (e.g. €6 tag plus €2 cash for a new €8 tag). Tags will NOT be exchanged in the retail outlets and shops.

The new tags will be available in shops and retail outlets from mid-March.
What will the cost to the householder be in 2006?

Keep Recycling and it's Free!

Households will have benefited from the tagging system by recycling as much as possible and thereby reducing the number of times they are required to use tags to place their black bin out for collection.

By using your green bin and local bring banks to best effect, you are helping to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill and thereby benefiting our environment.

  1. Only non-recyclable waste into the Black Bin
  2. Aluminium and Steel Cans, Paper, Magazines, light cardboard and tetrapak into the Green Bin.
  3. Lid on each bin must be fully closed.
  4. No plastic bag waste or other waste can be left beside or on top of either bin. This will simply mean non-collection and even a fine.
  5. Don’t over compact your bin as it may not fully empty leaving  you to buy another tag for a half emptied bin.

Thank you for your co-operation in helping to keep our county clean.
