Repak Recycling Week
Repak is calling on householders nationwide to increase their recycling efforts during this year’s 6th annual Repak Recycling Week which runs from the 2nd to the 8th October. This year one lucky recycler will drive away in a new Ford Focus Flexifuel Vehicle for their efforts.  To see how to recycle and win click here.

This year, the theme for the week is “Keep Recycling – let’s get it sorted” and is supported by a nationwide educational and promotional campaign.  Repak Recycling Week aims to get as many people recycling the maximum amount of packaging during the week and help Ireland achieve and exceed  its 2011 EU packaging recovery target of 60%.  Last year, the Repak Recycling Week campaign contributed to growing household packaging recycling rates by 59%

Andrew Hetherington, CEO Repak, said, “This year to congratulate established recyclers and to encourage new recyclers, we are offering the chance to win the environmentally innovative Ford Focus FFV.  Getting more people to recycle is essential to Ireland meeting tough new European recycling targets.  In addition we also need families to look deeper into what they throw out to see if it can be recycled.  More materials are being added to the list of what can be recycled and this week is a great opportunity to check out what you can bring to your local recycling centre.”

Eddie Murphy, MD of Ford in Ireland said "We are delighted to be associated with Repak Recycling Week and we believe our Focus FFV which runs on any mix of petrol or bio-ethanol is an ideal car for the initiative,”

Noel McMullan, Director of Maxol said, “Maxol is a great supporter of Repak Recycling Week and our bio-ethanol is a great example of recycling at work.  Our E85 bio-ethanol is made from whey, a by-product of cheese-making, by Carbery in Co. Cork.  The whey is recycled and turned into a very valuable product that will help lessen our dependence on fossil fuels.”

To help consumers get into the recycling habit Repak will be listing full details of participating local authority recycling centres.  This information will also be available through the lo-call number 1850 909999 operating between 9am and 5pm Monday to Thursday and between 9am and 1:30pm Friday.
