Dublins FREE Trade Campaign

| Your Green Bin/Bag |
Over 400,000 householders in the Dublin Region now have a green wheelie bin for the recycling of dry recyclable household materials. Since January 2009 Greyhound, on behalf of the four Dublin Local Authorities, are responsible for the collection and sorting of household dry recyclables collected in the household green bins or bags. The green bin is supported by Repak, an organisation who fund packaging recycling. Householders with a green bin should try to maximise its use by recycling as many dry recyclable materials as possible.
Since May 2007 the green bin collection service has been improved and the expanded service is being rolled out to householders across the region on a phased basis. The expanded service includes a change from a monthly service to fortnightly collections. From January 2nd 2009 an enhanced green bin collection service will be put in place. The green bin now accepts all clean plastics, newspapers and magazines, food cans and tetra pak. To find out more about the new service click here.
| Collections and Green Bin Calendar |
Householders with a green wheelie bin should have received a calendar showing their green bin collection days for the year. It is advisable to post your calendar on a notice board or to the fridge so everyone in the house knows when the next collection day is approaching. To avoid missing the trucks, please be sure to place your bin out by 7 a.m. on the morning of your collection (unless you are on an evening collection route).
If you forget to leave out your bin or your bin is filling up too quickly please contact Greyhound at 1890 342 342.
Calendars for Green Bin Collection dates for your area are downloadable from the Green Bin website .
