| Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Green Schools |

In the Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council area, many schools are registered and participating in the Green Schools Programme.
There are currently 105 schools in Dun Laoghaire - Rathdown County Council registered for the Green Schools programme.
72 of these schools have achieved Green Schools status and proudly fly the green flag.
Green Schools work on the following five themes:
- Litter and Waste
- Energy Conservation
- Water Conservation
- Transport
- Biodiversity
Schools can spend between one and three years working on each theme. Once they have completed the litter and waste theme they are assessed and if successful they are awarded with a green flag. Schools then continue with the programme and are assessed every two years.
Dun Laoghaire - Rathdown County Council provide support to schools at all stages of the green schools programme, in conjunction with providing an environmental awareness programme for schools that also incorprates:
- Schools Environmental Competitions
- Assistance with schools environmental projects
- Composting: DLRCC provide free composters to schools plus advice and information on composting.
