What can I compost?

The following table summarises the types of materials that can be composted into two categories – Greens and Browns. Remember to make good compost try and balance the compost mix – two parts green to one part brown.

Leaves Sawdust and wood shavings
Weeds (not weed seeds) Straw
Dead Plants and flowers Paper
Grass and hedge cuttings Wood
Branches and twigs Twigs and branches (cut into pieces)
