The price of a bin tag for the standard 240 litre bin is €8, while the tag for the smaller 140 litre bin is €4. These charges remain significantly below the cost to the Council of providing the service and are amongst the lowest in the country.

South Dublin County Council are now introducing a "Pay as you go" system. This system has already been introduced to a selected number of estates in the South Dublin region. For more details on the new sytem click here.

South Dublin County Council uses the following criteria as its basis for the operation of its waste charges waiver scheme at present:

1. Where the sole income of the household is from the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs Allowance or pension or

2. Where the total income of the households is exempt from income tax under the Finance Acts or

3. Where in the opinion of the County Manager the payment of the charge would result in personal hardship.
