New Free Trade Features

DublinWaste.ie have added a number of new features to Free Trade aimed at improving the service further for its users.  The changes implemented are in response to the many comments and suggestions made by our regular users and we hope they improve your experience.

Wanted and Offered Items:

The Free Trade service allows users to advertise unwanted household items to other users and to facilitate in passing these on for free.  The service also allows users to post wanted notices for particular items that a user might be looking for.

Originally these notices were not separated out from each other which was proving frustrating for users.  In response DublinWaste.ie has improved the design of the Free Trade homepage. Separate tabs now direct the user to either the offered or wanted sections.  An active tab is represented by the dark purple colour, with the other inactive section shown with a lighter paler purple as illustrated below.

Manage Items

This new feature has been added to user accounts and is displayed in the Your Control Panel after logging into your account.

When clicked this function will display all of your items currently attached to your account both open and closed.

A legend showing the functions available is displayed at the top of the page and is shown here.

You can carry out changes to your items by clicking on the relevant icon displayed to the right of the item name.  A brief explanation of the icon function is provided below:

Close Item:  This function removes an offered item or wanted post from the live website database. This is usually done after an item has been traded or found.  After closing the item/post remains in the users account but is not searchable by external users. A closed item/post can be made live again by selecting the open icon. Closed items will be deleted if not refreshed after 60 days.

Open Item: This function makes live a closed item or notice attached to a users account. By selecting this option the item is added to the live website and the post is viewable by other users.  Items will remain open for a maximum of 60 days if not refreshed.

Delete: This function deletes an item closed or open from a users account. This is a permanent function and any item deleted cannot be retrieved.

Refresh: This function can be used to refresh the number of days that your item has remaining. Open items when made live have 60 days before being closed. Refreshing an open item will reset the 60 days duration. Closed items have 60 days before being deleted. Refreshing a closed item ensures it remains attached to your account.

Edit: This function will allow a user to modify the details of an item or post i.e name, description, condition, contact details etc.  After making the necessary changes the save button needs to be selected at the bottom of the page.
