Dublin City Council Brown Bin Roll out

28th April 2008

In September 2006, Dublin City Council introduced a pilot kerbside collection of organic waste to 8,000 households. Each household received a 140 litre brown bin and kitchen caddy. During this pilot phase of the rollout over 500 tonnes of organic waste was diverted from landfill!

The brown bin continues to be rolled out across the City with 30,000 residents of Coolock and surrounding areas receiving their 140 litre brown bin and kitchen caddy.
